Craft, color, & control.

Mode Imaging provides professional digital imaging services for print, digital, and broadcast publication.

Mode Imaging is the New York studio of digital imaging artist Preston Chaplin. The studio has spent 28 years behind some of advertising’s most visible images — compositing, retouching, and finishing work for brands, agencies, and productions where the final image has to hold up on a billboard, a broadcast, and a phone screen alike.

That work includes every in-house Google Super Bowl spot since 2019; campaigns for YouTube, BMW, Victoria’s Secret, and Indeed; every volume of Emerson Collective’s Positive Sum; retouching for Broadway and New York theater productions; and beauty and spirits brands from Sally Hansen and Clinique to Dunhill and Don Julio.

There isn’t an imaging project the studio can’t handle — beauty, product, people, fashion, automotive, broadcast, AI rendering, even building custom AI tools when the job calls for one.

The toolset has evolved — from darkroom to digital, from CGI to generative AI — but the job hasn’t: take a picture the last ten percent of the way, where craft is measured by being invisible.
